2026 Fall Fellow
Who we are
Flytedesk powers media and advertising on college campuses. We started flytedesk as the tool we needed at our college newspapers and have grown into the single largest funding source for student journalism. We use a data-informed approach and deep industry experience to help student media organizations thrive, not just survive, through targeted training resources, national advertising opportunities, and revenue-driving strategies.
We’ll always be student media nerds — and that informs all we do. We know our audience better than anyone else. It’s our mission to help student media organizations become stronger and more sustainable for the long-term.
About the program
Back-to-school season at flytedesk is always intense, and this year it’ll be doubly so. In addition to our normal brand advertising work, we’ll be working with some of the biggest names in politics and advocacy to turn out youth voters for the midterm elections. The 2026 elections will be extremely consequential, competitive, and expensive, and the youth vote will be a critical deciding factor.
This Fellowship is designed for individuals who care deeply about politics and media and want to be on the front lines in 2026. We offer fair warning that elections can be challenging and time-intensive work, but this experience is an opportunity to make an impact by helping organizations reach and engage the college audience. We’ve designed this program to give hands-on experience with every type of media, as flytedesk operates a multi-channel platform that includes: digital, print, social, outdoor, influencer, SMS, guerrilla/street team, and more.
From day one, each Fellow will be assigned to work directly with one of flytedesk’s internal teams, responsible for essential aspects of campaign execution, inventory development, and/or client reporting. In addition to daily tasks, Fellows will go through an intensive one-week training program that will feature guest speakers and one-on-one mentoring with flytedesk employees. It is a great crash course for future work in the media industry, at an advertising agency, or in politics.

"I was a Fall Fellow in 2022, and it was an experience I truly cherish. Flytedesk is unlike any company I’ve ever worked for. As a fellow, you’re given meaningful responsibilities that directly impact the business. This was far more than a “just answer emails” fellowship. I gained hands-on experience overseeing campaigns, building relationships, and making the impossible happen. The fellowship taught me how to work independently while also developing the discipline needed to thrive in a remote environment." - Alondra Garcia, 2022 Fall Fellow & Campaign Fulfillment Associate at flytedesk

“Working at flytedesk was a great experience! It taught me a lot about the inner workings of a company that I never even thought about, like the ways different teams collaborate, tracking projects and communicating with clients. Not only did I learn about the operations of advertising but about the election cycle and what goes on behind the scenes in big ‘get out the vote’ campaigns. While I’m in a completely different role and industry now, I use a lot of what I learned at flytedesk every day and have even incorporated some of the workflow management and client communication skills into my team here at NM. I’m proud to have worked for a company that shares my passion for student media.” - Kristina Agresta, Campus Talent Acquisition Specialist @ Northwest Mutual

“Flytedesk wasn’t lying when they said they throw Fellows right into the deep end, and I mean that in the best way possible. Leaving college unsure of what I wanted to do, those six months provided an eye-opening crash course into all aspects of executing successful ad campaigns, while maintaining a central focus on supporting student media. In addition to the hard skills I learned to complete my day-to-day tasks, this experience provided invaluable opportunities to develop as a young professional. Whether it’s in time management, cross-functional communication, strategies for success in remote work, project leadership, or any other LinkedIn buzzword you could think of, you will unavoidably grow during your time at flytedesk, and you’ll do it as a member of one of the most supportive teams I’ve ever been a part of.” - Micah Ernest, 2024 Fall Fellow & Publisher Dev. Manager at flytedesk

"I loved my Fall Fellowship at flytedesk. It gave me a lot of insight into how marketing professionals translate complex campaigns into clear and concise messages that effectively communicate to college students. Additionally, it provided me with project management and data-centric skills that apply to any industry. For anyone with a foundation in legacy media, an interest in politics or just a desire for good post-graduate career experience, this Fellowship checks all the boxes" - Michael Braithwaite, 2024 Fall Fellow & reporter for The Denver Gazette
